MUni First Ride

Off we go!

I've been learning to ride on my 20" street unicycle for the past few months, and now it's time to bust out on the trails with my 24" Nimbus MUni! I'll be riding easy trails near my home, as I learn the basic skills I need to confidently assault the extreme offroad in the nearby Italian Alps.

The basic skills I'm honing are riding over rough surfaces, turning, free mounting, bulldozing over obstructions, free standing and hopping over obstacles, as well as just riding over rough, rolling terrain. As well as my MUni, I'll be using my street uni for learning and practice.

First ride on the Cariggi Trail
:
I'm finding my first rides on tractor roads fun, challenging and tiring. The dirt roads are full of stones, which are easy enough to just ride over. I'm mixing walking and riding on my Cariggi Trail circuit. I really tire myself out by putting too much of my weight on the pedals., which wears my legs out. There are a few spots I need to learn to power through. I can freemount some of the time, but certainly need some work. I had lots of fun on my first real outing, which was as much walking as riding, and I love the Brianza countryside in the spring.
My new 24" Nimbus MUni is like a tank, rolling over anything in it's way. The 3" Duros eats up anything in it's way, and holds on to leaning trails well; I'm going to have to play with the tire pressure, I think it was a bit hard at 25psi. The seat is pretty comfortable, and I played a bit with seat height- the double quick release was really handy.
