Practice Makes Perfect #4

It's been raining quite a bit here, so this week's seen a bit less saddle time than I'd like, but that's spring in northern Italy... Anyways, I have gotten out a few times, as well as having my circus class, which, unfortunately, is coming to a close soon.

Street: My street riding was exclusively at circus class this week. I'm working mostly on hopping and idling, as well as keeping up my freemounting practice. I can static hop fairly indefinitely, turn around 180° and pedal out of hops fairly well. As for idling, well, it just doesn't come easily, though I'm pretty good at trackstands on bikes, both fixed and geared. Apparently, idling is difficult for many to get down, so I'll just keep plugging away. I'm riding my KHE 20X2.35" street tire running at about 40psi, which feels about right and rolls and turns better than the Jumping Jack. I'm thinking about just getting a street tire for my 24" MUni and pass the 20" on to my daughter.

MUni: I made it out a couple of rides this week. My first was sessioning a downhill section nearby, which was lots of fun. Controlling speed takes a lot of work, and I can see why some use a brake, which I may soon add. Picking a line and sticking to it is also important, even if it means rolling over stuff that makes me nervous. I broke things into sections, but have not yet been able to clear everything in one shot.
I also got to ride another local trail, Sentiero della Gagiada, which is a well known XC trail that gets a bit technical. I look forward to more rides on this one.
My regular Cariggi loop is getting easier, though my freemounting was fairly horrid. There's a little spot with roots that I'm going to have to session to be able to clear, and this coming week is the time to do so if it doesn't rain. I'm also going to focus on practicing freemountin offroad as well as static hopping. I think I'm going to get a slick tire and start using the MUni for my street workouts so that I can simply get used to one uni for everything.

My next workouts are going to be idling and freemounting offroad.
